General Introduction

The subject of Hemp has proved to be even more significant than its initial promise.

Not only has a wealth of information emerged, but also a sense that the information concerned - which relates to numerous potential benefits to humanity - has been deliberately suppressed at the hands of a panoply of vested interests.

Perhaps a new category of misdemeanour should be established, fitting for the "Information Age" - that of Information Crime. If the People were ever to make the laws, surely one should cover the deliberate attempt, for whatever reason, to withold knowledge directly related to the general good.

Governments - working in concert with their legislative bodies - seem as much to blame as industrialists.

From the national political standpoint, we should remember thatthe UK is nominally part of the European Union. There a convincing case that we should look to the example of the Netherlands and benefit from their experience - in preference to the current situation.

When laws are detached from morals, a new breed of Hero/Outlaw is always created.

Of course, as you will see here, things are changing. But this change is taking place under the strict control of the State, and not fast enough to prevent numerous abuses within the Justice System.

When J. K. blew smoke at the cameras at Glastonbury Festival he was part of a new wave of rationality. One that you will read about in these pages...
